Prince William plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in South America during November, according to royal officials.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The royal pair were present at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Dedication

The King has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the UN meeting.

Royal sources have portrayed William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as stepping up an significant responsibility in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This participation included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will align with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he attends the COP summit on November 6th.

In recent days the prince characterized the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

The King has been a key figure at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats facing us over global warming, climate change and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed attendees.
