Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what more could an Three Lions follower desire?

Ideally, they'd want an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to secure the famous trophy following the initial matches.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table this time, though, after the hosts' dominant triumph in Adelaide put the hosts leading three-nil for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

The Barmy Army, the vocal contingent, have a large group traveling for the last two matches in New South Wales and Victoria.

There are also tour groups who will celebrate the holidays overseas, as well as loved ones planning a special expedition.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are among those affected.

The four siblings had their flights and tickets secured for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "12 months ago", anticipating a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia defeat England convincingly in just 11 days from their house in Penwortham, Lancashire.

"All my colleagues has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have something to play for by the time we arrived."

Fading Positivity

Optimism was high concerning a potential victory of ending their 15-year wait for a series win in Australia ahead of the tour.

But they are now staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

Ben Stokes' side - and their supporters - will be desperate to avoid a clean sweep.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent years had "reinvigorated" the longest format for followers of the team.

Yet the fans said they had minimal hopes for the final two games - and all they are requesting from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Every pundit references this, but it all is about mental resilience. 'Bazball' has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, impractical batting," stated Rory Ryding.

"In a five-day Test match, you should dig in. Chasing balls 'sixth stump' areas has never been in the coaching manuals, and that is largely because of the top order."

Looking Ahead

Prompted about he believed England will win a match in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It appears the Aussies are just too good at the moment."

"There is going to have to be multiple performers that delivers for the team and makes a big impact."

Regardless of the result, the fans are anticipating the trip.

"It will be a great time regardless," said Katie. "We have to go with that mindset."

"Naturally, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have invested a significant amount by now."

"We'll enjoy spending the festive season overseas. Additionally, it's a new experience for us away from home at this time of year."

A schoolteacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her time off.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to turn to," she finished.
