🔗 Share this article Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix. Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs. Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT. Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme. Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session. Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier. Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight. The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver. Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best. Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
