Liverpool Vows Not to Abandon Attacking Style In the Face of Poor Run of Form, Says Head Coach Slot

The Dutch manager has stated that the team leadership are aligned with his perspective regarding the team's slump and he refuses to compromise their attacking style in pursuit of a solution. The tactician conceded that six losses in seven games was below standard ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.

Increasing Scrutiny During Challenging Phase

Slot accepted the expectations were high before his altered lineup suffered Carabao Cup elimination against Crystal Palace. However, he emphasized that this need to reverse the decline is not coming from the team's proprietors or football administration following a substantial investment of almost £450m.

"We share common perspectives," commented the manager, whose team next week face Los Blancos in the continental tournament and play against Manchester City in the domestic competition.

Squad Quality Stays Undoubted

Slot believes his team "boast a remarkable roster if they are all fit and all ready for the fixture list". He mentioned that the recent signings in players such as Florian Wirtz and the forward, who is probably unavailable again against Aston Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in a strong situation for the short-term future and the distant prospects".

Team Cohesion Issues

When asked why his team were struggling to integrate, he replied: "That's not particularly helpful. 'What are the reasons?' I provide reasons and people say I'm making justifications. I can identify several explanations why we are not winning as much or suffering defeats as we do but, as I say every time, there are inadequate reasons to have a results sequence as we had now."

  • Regardless of whether I could identify multiple factors
  • As Liverpool manager you must avoid losses
  • The reality is six defeats in seven games

Backline Performance

Only the Lancashire club (twenty-one) have faced more big chances from normal situations this season than the Merseysiders (nineteen). The league leaders, Arsenal, have conceded only two. Yet the manager disputes the defense has been too vulnerable and asserts there is no justification to sacrifice his attacking principles for a more pragmatic style after 10 games without a goalless performance.

"From my perspective we don't conceding a lot of chances so I don't see a reason to alter our approach completely but we have to enhance in not conceding goals," he said.

Particular Cases

"When facing United, how many openings did we give up? When playing Frankfurt when we were leading 3-1, we barely allowed a attempt on goal. In each fixture we have played so far we haven't given up a many opportunities. Definitely not. We do allow a somewhat more than the previous campaign but that is related to us being behind early so you become more adventurous. But overall I don't believe that our challenge is that we concede too many chances. Our issue is we are unable to finish the chances we create."
